You don’t take a photograph. You make it.
~Ansel Adams
Hi, I’m Dan.
Photography has been a creative pursuit of mine from the time I was very young, when my family introduced me into the creative world of images. From learning to shoot and develop 35 mm film, I developed a love for black & white photography for the gritty urban feel the pictures can convey. It’s still a favorite mode of shooting.
Instant film, and the ability to modify it’s images, opened up a whole new world for capturing life in a still format. Exploring the use of light within those Polaroids helped to expand my vision. It still seems magical to get instantaneous results.
Through the years, I have continued to grow and expand my skill set. I consider myself a ‘street photographer’ with a photojournalistic passion to capture events as they unfold. I like capturing spontaneous moments, getting beyond the typical frozen poses that people default to when you ask them if you can take a picture. I like to pull out the unexpected, fun, kooky character of the subject.
I have shot photos as a yearbook photographer, for events and for local theater productions. (To see some examples, look for Theater Productions in the Photos section.)
I hope that as you look through my photos, you get a sense of how much I love capturing unexpected images of subjects in their element and the beauty of God’s creation.
